Last night, Cambria Elementary held their annual Christmas Concert at Central Cambria High School. The concert featured the 4th and 5th Grade Band and Chorus.
To kick off the concert, the 5th grade band played “A Christmas Sleighride.” They were followed by some exercises featuring the 4th grade. There were solo pieces that featured students, Deklan Estep, David Schweitzer, Karter Cuppett, Ben Bellomo, Kamryn Yingling, Andrew Mulligan and Lauren Lockard. The band portion ended with a number entitled “Christmas Joys” which has “Jingle Bells”, “Jolly Old Saint Nicholas” and “Up on the Housetop” in the music set to a rock beat.
There was plenty of holiday spirit in the concert with numbers from the 4th and 5th grade chorus such as the classic carol “Deck the Halls,” “Beautiful Christmas,” a rousing jazzy number called “Sparklejollytwinklejingley” from the new hit musical Elf and “Christmas in Any Language.” The CES students also sang about the feast of lights or Hanukkah in the song “Celebrate the Feast of Lights.” Their final number was a fun filled song about ugly Christmas sweaters called “Ugly Sweater.”
It was a wonderful evening of music making. The student’s hard work really showed as they shared with the audience their holiday spirit and musical talents.
